The 12th Convocation of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Kolkata, was held on Friday Arunish Chawla, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and addressed the participants through virtual mode.
He mentioned in his convocation address, that the pharmaceutical sector in India has played a pivotal role in ensuring access and affordability of good-quality drugs across the country.
He also appreciates the effort of NIPER Kolkata for its academic success and contribution to publishing research papers and patents.
He further emphasized that the Institute produces excellent scholars who have made a commendable participation in the pharmaceutical science field within a very short span of time. 89 Masters and 07 PhD degrees;15 Gold Medals were awarded to the students by the President of the 12th Convocation, Prof. Arun Bandopadhyay; Guest of Honor, Dr. C.N. The Guest of Honor, Dr. C.N. Ramchand, Chief Executive Officer, Theragen Biologics Pvt Ltd., Chennai, inspired the students to become job creators instead of job-seekers. He also emphasized utilizing the various schemes and initiatives introduced by Govt. of India to make the country self-reliant in the pharmaceutical sector. In addition, he mentioned the importance of biopharmaceuticals and gene-based therapies.

Kolkata, congratulated the degree recipients and their family members. He insisted the
students passing out from NIPER Kolkata today will be able to apply their training and
education towards new age therapies and path-breaking innovations. NIPER Kolkata has made rapid progress and contributed to the Indian pharmaceutical industry by providing skills, resources, and innovations.
Prof V Ravichandiran, Director, NIPER Kolkata, welcomed the dignitaries and presented the Institute Academic report highlighting the achievements of the institute and awards received by students and faculties during the academic year. He also mentioned the establishment of “The Centre for Marine Therapeutics” and “Rare Disease Therapeutics,” which aim to provide affordable medicines to society. He further informed that the Institute will establish a Centre of Excellence in Flow Reactor and Continuous Manufacturing with the funding support of Rs.100 Cr. from the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Govt. of India. He congratulated all the graduating students and awardees. Prof. Subramanian Natesan, Professor & Registrar In-charge, has proposed a Vote of Thanks to the dignitaries.
