GRS News india : Kolkata,22nd September’2024 : To observe Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month, Medica Superspecialty Hospital organized an inspiring Survivors’ Meet on Saturday, 21st September. The theme “Adding Life to Days” aimed at throwing more light on some of the very significant issues concerning gynecological cancers. Dr. Arunava Roy, Senior Consultant, Unit Head of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology & Women Cancer Initiative, and Robotic Surgery Specialist and Trainer, Medica Superspecialty Hospital, debunked common myths, provided essential information, and shared early warning signs of gynecological cancer during the meet. About 25 cancer survivors came out and spoke of their inspiring experiences. The event was graced by the presence of the Rajyogini Sister B.K. Kanan, In-charge of Brahma Kumaris Eastern Zone HQ in Kolkata.
At the event, Dr. Arunava Roy underlined the importance of early detection. He shared, “This year, our focus is on reducing patients’ uncertainties by offering swift and accessible testing for all age groups who might be suffering symptoms of gynecological cancer. At Medica, we continue challenging the misconception that cancer is a terminally fatal disease. With early detection, cancer is highly treatable, especially through regular screenings and timely interventions.” He called on raising awareness of it, adding, “It is a shared responsibility to educate ourselves and our loved ones on the critical role of routine check-ups and screenings. Early detection not only increases survival rates but radically changes the quality of life of the patients. We must be dedicated to the causes of improvement in cancer prevention and treatment.”
The event and the interactive session took the viewers through clinically oriented topics ranging from defining the symptoms of this cancer to the technicalities of managing the same for well-being.
The Gynecological Cancer Survivor Meet was a celebration of the strength of women battling this cancer, hoping their stories inspire others facing similar diagnoses.
