GRS News India : Kolkata, 11th January 2025: Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management Kolkata (EIILM-Kolkata), one of India’s leading Business Schools, known for its focus on academic excellence and creating leaders for the global corporate world, recently announced its latest collaboration with Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), of The City University of New York (CUNY), USA, in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Rama Prosad Banerjee, Chairman and Director, EIILM – Kolkata and Dr. Sanjay Ramdath, Vice President of Enrollment Management, Enrollment Management Services, Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), The City University of New York (CUNY), USA. The partnership has been validated in November 2024 through the official signing of a Statement of Shared Interest at the Business Capital of India, Mumbai. The newly established alliance will allow EIILM-Kolkata students to enroll in BMCC courses as well as enhance opportunities for BMCC students to study abroad and participate in exchange programs.
Prof. (Dr.) R.P. Banerjee, Chairman and Director, EIILM – Kolkata, described the collaboration as the dawn of a new illumination ‘Usha Dipyam’, initiated from a place at the heart of the Business Capital of India, Mumbai. He further shared, “The partnership between EIILM – Kolkata and BMCC is a genuine heart-felt endeavor born out of a common vision for academic and professional growth. It becomes a collaborative innovation and standing with immense mutual benefit to both institutions. Together, the course aims to create a platform for knowledge exchange and nurture future leaders while strengthening the academic and professional landscape of India.”
In his address, Dr. Sanjay Ramdath, Vice President of Enrollment Management, Enrollment Management Services, Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), The City University of New York (CUNY), USA, shared, “We are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership between Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), USA and EIILM – Kolkata, India. This collaboration will allow EIILM-Kolkata students to enroll in BMCC courses and gain insights from our esteemed faculty in business management. BMCC students will also benefit from this partnership through enriched cultural exchanges, collaborative projects, and expanded global perspectives, enhancing their academic and professional development.”
Dr. Anthony Munroe, President of BMCC, expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership after the signing of statement of shared interest, as he stated that, “This agreement represents an exciting opportunity for our students to engage with a vibrant academic community in India. By collaborating with EIILM-Kolkata, we are not only enhancing our students’ educational experiences but also fostering cross-cultural understanding and professional growth.”
The data of 2022 from the Ministry of External Affairs states that around 1.3 million Indian students are studying abroad. The burgeoning number of Indian students opting to study abroad reflects their desire for a world-class education and better career prospects. This collaboration will provide students of EIILM-Kolkata with valuable knowledge from the esteemed faculty at BMCC’s Business Management department. This alliance not only opens up new horizons for EIILM-Kolkata students but also enables their participation in global
exchange programs. This agreement equally enhances opportunities for BMCC students, aligning with the growing trend for U.S. institutions to seek strategic partnerships in India, as highlighted in recent analyses of study abroad trends.
