Adamas University recently announced the first-of-its-kind Centre of Excellence on Happiness in Eastern India, a joint effort with Paro College of Education, Bhutan.
Adamas University and Paro College of Education, Royal University of Bhutan, signed a collaboration agreement to enrich the knowledge and cultural domains of both countries at the Adamas Campus.
The event was attended by Dr. Dorji Thinley, President of Paro College of Education, Royal University of Bhutan; Dr. Kezang Sherab, Dean of Research and Industrial Linkages, Paro College of Education; along with Adamas University’s Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Samit Ray; Prof. Suranjan Das, Vice-Chancellor; and the University Leadership team. They discussed potential areas of collaboration between Adamas University and the Royal University of Bhutan.
A global lecture highlighted Bhutan’s education system, emphasising gross national happiness.
Prof. (Dr.) Shauli Mukherjee, Dean, School of Education, and Dean, International Relations, of Adamas University, announced that a Centre of Excellence on Happiness will be jointly set up soon by Adamas University and Paro College of Education. The Centre will be a unique initiative and the first of its kind in Eastern India.
Dr. Dorji Thinley, President of Paro College of Education, Royal University of Bhutan, stated that they had developed as much in just a few decades as many other countries had in the past 300 years.
Prof. Samit Ray suggested that significant joint research initiatives should be undertaken for the advancement of knowledge and the development of innovation. Prof. Suranjan Das emphasised that bridging the gap between the two countries through student exchanges, joint supervision of PhD programmes, and hosting summer camps is important for academic enrichment.
